Social scene at Vassar

Hi, I'm looking at applying ED2 at Vassar! However, I've never visited, and I'm not really sure what the social scene is like. Would I fit in as someone who doesn't really care about the arts? Also, what's daily life like there? Thanks!

Chances of transferring into Vassar when previously acccepted

I am a first semester freshman, I had issues with paying tuition for Vassar because of my weird financial situation, was very close but couldn't. I am going to a much cheaper school for the time being to save money and I am definitely going to transfer. The transfer acceptance rate is far lower for Vassar than admissions, so what are my potential chances of getting in again. Also, how do scholarships work for transfer students, I understand in many instances schools offer no financial aid or scholarships. I am only interested in transferring to schools that will meet my financial needs to some extent.

Does Vassar College Keep Track of Campus Visits?

Was wondering if anyone knew whether Vassar keeps track of applicants who visit their campus and those who don't? I'm an international applicant and I haven't been able to visit Vassar before I would submit my Jan 1 app. I will be doing the alumni interview of course but I was wondering if anyone knew whether I will be looked down upon/penalized for not visiting campus and showing immense interest in the school. Thanks!

Could I get into Vassar as a transfer?

I am a freshman at Quinnipiac University double majoring in Computer Science and Journalism, but I'd really like to transfer to Vassar for the Fall 2017 semester, but I'm not extremely confident about getting in, as my high school record is far from impressive. I've really hit my stride academically in college. COLLEGE: My first semester at QU resulted in a 3.938 gpa (one A- I am still upset about) I'm in one club, and write articles for the Odyssey Online and am going to join the QU satire newspaper team next semester. I am also applying for, and am fairly confident about being accepted to, the Honors Program for spring semester. HIGH SCHOOL: As for high school, I finished with a 94.37 GPA - we didn't do a 4.0 scale. My high school record is not the best but includes at least one honors or AP class every year (my school didn't offer many). I took all honors or AP histories, and honors English. AP World 4 AP US 3 AP Euro 4 SAT scores are not very good at all: superscore 1830 M: 590 W: 610 V: 630 EXTRA CURRICULARS: I was a member of the yearbook (9th and 12th) and newspaper club (10th and 11th). I played Varsity Field Hockey at school and played in a private competitive league (9th and 10th). I have played numerous musical instruments for many years. Flute in the school band from elementary through 9th and continued to study privately thereafter, and guitar and ukulele for the past 7 years. Volunteer at a summer camp every year for 7 years. I have also had a job since I was fourteen, most notably interning (paid, thats why I consider it a job) at a law firm. I have good recommendations from both high school teachers, employers, and college professors. My school didn't do rankings. Race: White. I am also the daughter of a 32 year veteran.

I applied RD to Vassar. I visited during march of 2016 and loved it. I hope to study communications, media etc. SATs: 2060 (one sitting) SAT II: USH 700. GPA: 3.89/4.3 (top 10% -- highest ranking school reports) AP's: APUSH (5), AP Lang (5), World History (4), Biology (3). I've taken every AP and honors class at my school (which is a small performing arts high school) except for calculus. Senior courseload: mandarin IV, probs and stats, AP lit, AP gov, physics. Awards: National Hispanic Recognition Award, POSSE finalist, CSF scholar, honor roll, AP scholar with honors, White House Film Festival Honorable Mention. I have great extracurriculars, I've interned at the Jewish Journal, for Congressman Tony Cardenas, Planned Parenthood, have a job at the Hollywood Bowl, started two clubs at my school, tutored low-income students, am a stage manager at my school etc etc. I am a half Latino/Jewish man. I also know a professor in the geology department whom I mentioned in my essay. I think my common app essay is fun and funny and I am really happy with my supplements. I think my recommendations are good, my counselor loves me as do the teachers I asked. (9/10) I think I am a strong applicant but my SAT score is a little low. I've already gotten into Tulane (Founders scholarship) and Fordham with a full scholarship.

Hi everyone! :) I applied to Vassar RD and don't know where to go to ensure they've received all my financial aid info. I've filled out FAFSA, CSS Profile, and iDOC, but I was wondering if there's some sort of portal/place to ensure they got everything safely. Thanks in advance to all responses!

So I think I kind of pissed off the alumni interviewer when she emailed me. Does anyone have any insight into what the interview asks you and how you should prepare for yourself? Vassar is the only school I applied for an interview, but I'm applying RD

I was going to apply to Vassar, in fact i was rather enthusiastic about it, except when i asked my college counselor about the atmosphere, she said it was kind of.. dead, that poughkeepsie used to be a great industrial city but it a bit .. cold now. i really can't visit vassar, but i was contemplating the validity of that.. any thoughts? of course, she might just be bitter because she's a bard alum..

Vassar Admissions

Can anyone tell me what Vassar places the most value on when looking at applications (ex. SAT, college prep classes, extracurriculars)? My SAT scores are on the low side for the school, but I'm taking the full IB diploma with predicted grades of all 6's and a 7. I also attend an international school, and no one from my school has applied to Vassar in the last 2 years - will they take this into consideration?

Hi. I'm interested in both science and art and would possibly like to double major or major with a minor. I was wondering which LAC is the most well-rounded in terms of their science department and art department. I don't really have a preference for either college which is why I am asking around for some opinions. Thank you!

I know the decisions are tomorrow but I'm just doing this for fun, and really just for some insight. ACT: 30 composite (35 english, 30 reading, 28 math, 26 science, writing is 9 on the new scale) GPA: im canadian and we dont calculate high school gpa, but my average would be an A+ in Canadian standards and i think then a 4.0? also APs were not offered at my school. EC's that i included in my application: -150+ hours of community service (volunteering) -Community Green Leader position for my city's official municipal environment division -Summer volunteer for ICNA Relief Youth Leadership Development Program, received recognition from Ontario government -Debate club member -Executive position on school's HOSA team as Trainer, competing at Spring Leadership Conference 2017 -Actor in SEARS festival -Sales executive at Solutions store common app essay: on how i learned to love my culture (my background is Pakistani and my family is Muslim) 9/10 supp1 extracurricular: my environment outreach volunteer position, love this essay very social justice and taking action-y 10 supp2 learn about: love this one, prob my most specific supplement, even mentioned professor I learn from etc. and how i fit in to Vassar's artistic and intellectual community 10 recommendations: hopefully really good, i had personal circumstances throughout high school but always persevered through them so that should reflect in them id hope! also one of the teachers gave me an award as well for the highest average for that course. I am Canadian and therefore considered international so I hope this isn't too much of a disadvantage. My stats are a little low I feel but I'm hoping my character shines through, and they see me as a good match :') Thanks! any comments are welcome.
